Les Claypool - Of Fungi and Foe LP
[+] enlarge image/alternate views

Les Claypool's album "Of Fungi and Foe" is his latest album of all original music. Since his last album release, 2006’s “Of Whales and Woe”, Les has been busy with his films, scoring other people’s films, scoring video games and just having fun out on tour. This album is a collection of songs inspired by the projects he has been working on over the past few year. Also on this album is a jam session with Eugene Hutz the charismatic front-man of the band Gogol Bordello that turned into the track “Bite Out Of Life”.

Les Claypool - Of Whales and Woe LP
"Of Whales and Woe" marks the first album release under the name Les Claypool. Though previous "solo" efforts were issued under a variety of monikers, these new recordings are the most self-contained to date. While Claypool's band members add some degree of instrumental variety (Skerik - Sax, Mike Dilon - Marimba & Percussion, Gabby La La -Sitar), Les handles guitar, percussion, and drums as well as his usual bass and vocals. Containing a variety of musical styles, this album also includes Les' theme for Seth Green's hit animated show "Robot Chicken" that airs on Cartoon Network. Tracklisting 1. Back off Turkey 2. One Better 3. Lust Stings 4. Of Whales and Woe 5. Vernon the Company Man 6. Phantom Patriot 7. Iowan Gal 8. Nothin' Ventured 9. Rumble of the Diesel 10. Robot Chicken 11. Filipino Ray 12. Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade - Purple Onion LP
The track list: Purple Onion David Makalaster Buzzards of Green Hill (featuring Warren Haynes) Long In The Tooth Whamola (with Fish Fisher of Fishbone) Ding Dang Barrington Hall D's Diner (with Fish and Norwood Fisher, Lonnie Marshall) Lights In The Sky Up On The Roof David Makalaster II Cosmic Highway The album's songs are sometimes light, sometimes dark, lyrically thought provoking, and rhythmically compelling. While the Brigade regulars are consistent on much of the record (eenor, Skerik, and new percussionist Mike "Tree Frog" Dillon), many special guests grace the album as well. "D's Diner" features sitar player Gabby Lang in addition to the triple-bass onslaught of Claypool, Norwood Fisher (Fishbone) and Lonnie Marshall (Weapon of Choice). Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers, Gov¹t Mule, Phil Lesh) handles guitar on the psychedelic hillbilly stomp of "Buzzards of Green Hill" and Fish Fisher (Fishbone drummer) guests on "Whamola," a live show staple named after the unique instrument Les employs -- a one-string bass played with a drumstick. Those in the know will recognize the references in "Barrington Hall," named after a Berkeley dorm and series of parties immortalized on Primus' "Frizzle Fry," which was reissued earlier this year. Original Frog drummer Jay Lane (Ratdog, Sausage) appears on four songs, while Bay Area monster Dean Johnson also makes an appearance.

PRIMUS Green Naugahyde CD
Green Naugahyde was produced and engineered by Les Claypool in his personal studio, Rancho Relaxo, in Northern California, and features Claypool, long-time guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane. Lane was in an early lineup of the band, and was also in Sausage, a 1994 reunion of the 1988 Primus lineup. Green Naugahyde expands on Primus’ incomparable sound and also sees them bringing it into the next millennium. It is a cerebral and complex album that, like all of the band’s output, is teeming with the band’s signature blend of whimsy and underlying darkness.

Les Claypool - Fancy DVD
“Fancy” is Les Claypool’s first live concert DVD and shows his latest band at its peak performance. With long time associates Skerik on sax and Mike Dillon on vibes, marimba and percussion (both of Garage a Trois and Critters’ Buggin), the band is rounded out by Cake drummer Paulo Baldi and multi-instrumentalist Gabby La La. “Fancy” was assembled using footage shot by a small group of devoted fans over the course of several performances. The audio is a combination of board tapes blended with audience or “tapers” recordings to give the piece the true “fan’s perspective.” The 2006 tour was in support of Claypool's then current cd release Of Whales and Woe, and thus material from this album is favored here. Other songs are drawn from 2002's Purple Onion and the 1996 Interscope release Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel: Highball With the Devil. DVD Contains: -Songs from Les’ latest studio album “Of Whales and Woe” -One Better -Of Whales and Woe -Phantom Patriot -Rumble of the Diesel …And many more gems!
